Honor ... in the Bibles and in our Homes

Hello D6 families,
If you missed it, Troy did a great job tonight at D6 opening up the February virtue of honor. It's attached below in case you haven't heard it yet. By the way, I met two new people tonight that loved worshipping with us. May God continue to make a great name for Himself as we seek Him corporately and in our families!

Enjoying Him with you,
Paul

Squirrel Video and Discipline in the Bible

Cornerstone Families,

This is the message I gave to open our semester on discipline.  The push is to memorize as a family.  I hope you find it helpful - I know I have been challenged by our Lord's example!  This week, Troy will speak on honor - in the Bible and in our families.  It should be awesome!  By the way, here is the link to the Squirrel Video last week on discipline (NOT DILIGENCE - ha ha).  Have a great day!

With you in the fight,
Paul

INFO: Missions for the Family??

Hello Cornerstone Families,

Andy Kampman, a missions mobilizer in Iowa, sent me the following email that I believe is worth your time....

"This ministry is the first that we have found that actually talks about doing missions with your family.. http://harvestministry.org
they don't just talk about local or global they do it together! they have a ton of free resources including a free year of homeschool missions curriculum! http://harvestministry.org/category/missions-and-your-family/free"

I am beginning to look at and consider how I will make it a part of our family time.  Also, I've included the message I gave last week at D6 in case you weren't there.

Enjoy the evening at home - a great time to look at that D6 binder as a family!

With you in the tundra,
Paul

Info: D6 Updates--Wednesday & Weekends

Hello Cornerstone families!

We have lots of information to tell you about D6 Weekends AND Wednesdays . . .
PLEASE keep reading!

We are excited to begin meeting WEEKLY with D6 Wednesdays this Wednesday, January 13!

We hope to see your family here learning and worshipping together.
Classes for kids and parents begin at 6:30p with The Gathering - worship for your family together - at 7:30p in the South Auditorium.

WEDNESDAY NEWS:

JANUARY VIRTUES
This month our kids in Beginnings ministry are learning that Jesus wants to be my friend forever!

Kids in D6 Basics (1st-5th Grade) are learning about Discipline - doing what you need to do now so you can grow stronger.

COMPUTER CHECK IN for D6 Wednesdays
Beginning this Wednesday night, ALL KIDS (infants-5th grade) need to be checked into
our CheckPoint computer system before heading to their class. This system will
print name tags for the kids AND help us keep attendance.

The computer kiosks are located in the main auditorium foyer.
You will use your last name or the last four digits of your phone number
to log in.

**If your OLDEST D6er is an infant or toddler, please use the two kiosks located to the west of
the infant/toddler rooms, at the bottom of the ramp that leads to the South auditorium. You can enter
the building from the south auditorium doors. This will help alleviate some potential congestion in the
main foyer.

We will have helpers on hand to enter new families and visitors at the D6 desk in the main foyer.

NEW CLASS SPLITS and ROOM ASSIGNMENTS for D6 Wednesdays
This week, our 3rd/4th Grade class will become TWO classes!
These new classes will meet in the classrooms closest to the south
auditorium instead of the Equipping Room. Look for signage!

WEEKEND NEWS:

SECURING OUR BEGINNINGS AREA
With the opening of our new D6 Beginnings (infants-threes) classrooms, we have been given
the opportunity to provide a secure environment for our youngest participants. Please help us
ensure the safety and security of this area by observing the following:
a)  Please respect the work of the Door Security folks. They have been enlisted to ensure that
only parents and teachers with the proper ID (teacher name tag or parent security tag) are allowed to enter
that area. If you do not wish to drop your Beginnings child off in his or her class, but do need to use the nursing room
or the family friendly viewing area, please take a moment to go ahead and use the Check Point system to create a security
tag for yourself. This also lets us know that your child was in attendace for a weekend service.
b) If you do not have children in the Beginnings area (i.e. your youngest child is PreK or above), PLEASE take the few
extra steps to bypass the Beginnings common area and walk around for drop off and pick up for our
PreK-2nd grade classes via the corridor by the "black box." Our goal is to limit the traffic in and around our infants/toddler hallway.
This goes for D6 Wednesdays too!

FIRST/SECOND GRADE CLASSES COMBINED
For the remainder of this D6 Weekends "year" (through May), our 1st and 2nd grade
weekend classes will be combined into ONE class.

SERVING AS A PARENT VOLUNTEER
At Cornerstone Church, we believe it is beneficial for you and your child AND we know it is helpful for our weekend teachers, to have parents serve as extra helpers in our weekend classrooms. Each quarter you have an opportunity to choose 3 service times to serve in your child's class. The next opportunity to sign up begins February 6/7. The sign up "season" will be open for 3 weeks. You can sign up using the kiosk at the D6 Welcome Desk during weekend services.

Compassion for D6 Families

D6 families,
Below is a link to the message I gave last week on showing compassion. I hope that you will open the Scriptures together as a family and enjoy Jesus this month as well as take some opportunities as a family in showing compassion this Christmas season. Many families are giving to Gospel for Asia, Rosebud Indian Reservation, serving at nursing homes, or serving meals to the homeless. Our children are eager to reach out, if given some direction. The will grow as we get up out of our living rooms and put it to action. May God bless every step you take to see Christ formed in your home this month.

Learning compassion with you!
Paul

D6 TOMORROW NIGHT!!

Hey families,
I wanted you to know that our closing D6 for the semester is tomorrow night at Cornerstone Church at 6:30pm, Central Time. We will introduce our December virtue of COMPASSION, a huge need for this time of the year when all the focus can be on US and getting GIFTS. We look forward to closing the year with you. Also, remember that we will be switching to a weekly D6 gathering next semester starting on January 13th.

See you tomorrow!
Paul

BLOG: Another Dad Steps Up and Leads

Hey families,

What a great night at D6!  Apparently, moose don't like peas after all!  Wow, that was fun!  On another note, I was challenged to parent better by the passage we looked at.  I've attached it if you weren't able to make it.  Also, I knew you would be encouraged by a short testimony from Scott Thompson.  He took a chance in stepping up to lead in his home and you can check it out at d6everyday.blogspot.com.  I pray that God also blesses you as you center your family around His word and learn about the virtue of "Cooperation".

Be encouraged!!
Paul

D6 Wednesday, Nov 4th

We will be having D6 this Wednesday, November 4th!  Join us as we begin to study the virtue of cooperation--working together to do more than you can do alone.

Age appropriate classes and parent equipping begin at 6:30 PM.  Parents, please take your kids to their regular weekend classrooms; 3rd & 4th will meet in the equipping room and 5th grade will be in the old infant and toddler rooms near the south auditorium.  We will not be using the computer check in stations in the main lobby.  Parent equipping will still be in the south auditorium.  Don't forget to bring your D6 Binders as we will have November's material ready for you.

See you Wednesday!!
